It may have taken an extra month to set up the stage, prepare the outfits, and practice walking due to the unexpected closing of the high school auditorium, but the 2015 Fashion/Talent Show finally hit the runway this past Saturday night at Cantiague Elementary School, raising thousands of dollars for a charitable organization in honor of Adam Singer.

Seniors Gregory Chestler and Kendra Kirby co-hosted the event. Kirby  has been an active participant in the Fashion/Talent Show since she was in 9th grade. Regretting the end of this cycle, she said, “I’m sad it’s the last year I will be a part of it, but it was a wonderful night for a great cause!”

The runway to the Fashion/Talent Show was especially long this year due to its rescheduling, but these unexpected problems did not stop the five directors and advisor Mrs. Kahan from putting on an amazing show.

Director Jillian Silverman said, “This process was something that gave me a huge life lesson. Sometimes in life things don’t go the way you planned it, but it is the way you handle those obstacles that proves the strength of a person.”

Director Jordyn Berger agreed with Silverman, saying, “Although the process of preparing for the fashion show was stressful and overwhelming, I am so glad that we could support such an amazing cause.”

The Fashion/Talent Show included six talent portions that ranged from student choreographed dances, to an a cappella group, and the student rock band “The Blue Flamingos.”

“Adding talent portions to the show made the show so diverse,” said Kendra Kirby who choreographed one of the dances to “Feeling Good” by Michael Buble.

“When we were pitched the idea of adding a talent portion to the show, all of the directors were so excited that they could incorporate an entirely new section of the show,” said Jenna Kaminsky, another one of this year’s directors who has been a part of the show for 4 years.

Show faculty advisor Mrs. Kahan was grateful for her students’ perseverance. “I would like to thank everyone involved in the fashion show for their hard work and dedication. I am so happy that we could support such a great cause that is so close to the Jericho community,” she said.
