Jericho Boys Varsity Soccer Preview

By JOSH ROTHSTEIN

The Jericho boys varsity soccer team is looking to win their fourth championship in five years. Led by a large returning senior group, they are looking to improve on last year’s first round playoff defeat.

Expectations are high for the 2015 team.  Captains Ethan Haas, A.J. Pinto, and Ben Land are looking forward to another successful season.  Haas said, “We are looking to make a long run, but we understand we have to earn everything we hope to achieve.”

Starter Alex Cooper realizes the team lost a bunch of players, but knows it won’t negatively affect them. Cooper said, “Even though we lost many of our seniors, including my idol Zach Blitz, our coach Dani Braga has done a great job of filling the gaps left by last year’s graduating class.”

Even though the team tied their first game against Hewlett on Wednesday, they still have time to impress The Nest at their first home game on Friday, September 11th when South Side comes to town at 4:30 p.m.

Returning senior Michael Carrion feels that it took some time for everyone to come together as one, but after a few practices and a first game,  the team is back at it. He has confidence in this year’s team. “We gonna win,” he said.
