French Honor Society’s Holiday Project

By MICHELLE LU

Over 30 French Honor Society members worked together in the teachers’ cafeteria to assemble brown bag lunches containing sandwiches, granola bars, and bottled water which were distributed to the needy.

“We made 260 sandwiches, give or take a few,” said sophomore Matt K. “Everyone pitched in, so it went really smoothly.”

The lunches were then loaded into boxes and donated to the Family Service League in Huntington which cares for senior citizens and works to provide for the homeless.

“We all had a great time working together, and I am very proud of each and every French Honor Society member,” said advisor Madame Kennedy.

This has been an annual holiday project for the French Honor Society, and this time it was organized by tenth grader Matt K., who took over the project from his sister, alumnus Madeline K., who had organized it for the previous two years.

“Everyone always talks about how they can make a difference, but not everyone gets the chance to actually do something, so it was kind of my way to give back,” said Matt.
