The Jericho High School/Middle School building experienced a power outage today during 8th period. The outage’s cause remains unclear, but according to High School Principal Ms. Rosenberg, “Traffic lights were out as well.” Administration made the decision to have students move to their 9th period classes, and the lights turned on halfway through that period. Junior Lauren S. said, “The power outage was very unexpected, and I was unsure if I was going to take my math test the following period.” The outage made some students anxious. Senior Christine B. worried that it might be an active shooter situation. “I thought that an active shooter might be in the building and faculty didn’t know what was happening either,” she said.  Sophomore Lily W. Had similar concerns. “I was walking and the staircase doors shut behind me, so I thought there was a lockdown,” she said. However other students enjoyed the power outage as a nice break. Junior Alexa A. said, “My class played games and I used the time to study for tests.”
