Every year, Jericho High School honors P.S. I Love You Day, holding space for mental health awareness. During P.S. I Love You Day, the Jericho Mindfulness Ambassadors Club (JMAC) works to raise money for the Long Island Crisis Center. This year, we had many student vendors, along with Cool Beans, create their wares to sell, with all proceeds going to the Long Island Crisis Center. Here are some profiles of the student vendors who helped make P.S. I Love You Day matter.
- Taylor B. ’28: Bracelets by Taylor–Taylor began making bracelets as a way to de-stress. According to Taylor, “Creating and working on a hands-on activity helped me relax and focus on something I consider both soothing and fun.” Taylor created bracelets with positive messages of kindness in hopes of brightening others’ days. “I believe a small act of kindness could truly make a big difference,” said Taylor. For this event, all of the proceeds from sales are being donated to the Long Island Crisis Center. Taylor was inspired by the message of spreading mental health awareness along with the kindness of her bracelets. Taylor said, “I deeply value sharing positivity and helping others, especially when it comes to effecting one’s mental health. Being a part of PS I love you Day is a very special feeling that motivated me to work even harder to make more people aware of these emotional difficulties people face daily. Every bracelet purchased, not only raises money for this foundation but is also reminding people that they aren’t alone during this time and lift others up.”

- Cool Beans: Cool Beans was established in 2010 as a way to integrate Jericho’s Life Skills students with the general education population while also providing the students with meaningful opportunities to develop vocational training skills. This year, students at Cool Beans worked hard to create things to sell every day of the week leading up to P.S. I Love You Day. On Monday, they sold chocolate-covered pretzels. On Tuesday, they sold purple blondies. On Wednesday, they sold Oreo truffles. On Thursday, they sold NoFoDoCo doughnuts. On Friday, they sold sugar cookies. The students also make purple T-Shirts to sell for P.S. I Love You Day.
- Emmy L. ’28: Bedazzled by Emmy–I got started with my small business by my creativity and love for turning simple things into something fun and meaningful. Bedazzling is a way for me to express my creativity and relieve stress; being able to watch a bunch of scattered beads become a beautiful project is very meaningful to me and makes me feel relaxed. For this event, all of the proceeds are being donated to the Long Island Crisis Center which provides support and resources for people in our community who are struggling with mental health. I am always looking for ways to help other people, and I’ve noticed that the Long Island Crisis Center does the same when they visit our school. Last year, I became a part of Dr. Smith’s Jericho Mindfulness Ambassador Council and through it, I learned even more about mental health and P.S. I Love You Day. It made me feel even deeper about spreading kindness, support, and especially mental health awareness. Once I heard about what P.S. I Love You Day was, I became even more inspired and wanted to raise money for the Long Island crisis center after seeing all they do for us. By purchasing, you’re not only getting something fun and unique, but also helping support mental health awareness and those in need in our community.
