Jericho High School welcomes its newest chemistry teacher this year, Mr. Jacob Geiser. After teaching science at other Long Island schools, he joined Jericho for the 2025–2026 school year and is excited to become a part of the community.
Before coming to Jericho, Mr. Geiser taught science for three years at Sachem North High School and Smithtown West High School. During that time, he taught several different classes, including Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Marine Ecology, and Forensics. His experience teaching a variety of science subjects helped prepare him for teaching chemistry at Jericho this year.
One of the main reasons Mr. Geiser wanted to work at Jericho was because of its strong reputation. Jericho is known as one of the best school districts on Long Island, and Mr. Geiser saw it as a place where he could grow as a teacher.
Mr. Geiser originally started his career as a biology teacher but later decided to become certified in chemistry as well. Even though this is his first year teaching chemistry, he said he is already enjoying it. He likes how chemistry includes math concepts and hands-on labs that allow students to learn in a more interactive way.
Mr. Geiser hopes to bring his passion for science into the classroom and create a fun and supportive environment for students. Outside of school, he enjoys playing golf, playing video games, listening to music, and watching movies. He also spends a lot of time with his two dogs, which keep him busy.
