Boys Varsity Golf Season Preview

BY MADI ZHOU ’28 & ADITI RAMANATHAN

The Jericho Boys Varsity Golf Team is teeing up for another successful season.

After ending last year’s season with an even record, team captains Joshua V. ’26 and Jake R. ’26 have been preparing their team in the off-season for victory. Joshua and Jake have arranged for weekly team outings to indoor golf simulators, not just to build skill, but also to build camaraderie.

As captains, Joshua and Jake aspire to not just surpass last year’s record, but also want to make it to the post-season. Jake said,  “My personal goal is to make counties and then excel in counties.”

In order to get to Counties, the captains are hoping to harness their pre-season training toward success on the links. Joshua said,  “I definitely want to get counties and you know, the ultimate goal’s definitely States. But you know, that’s step by step. Honestly, I think we can make it as a team. We’ve got a very strong team this year. And yeah, we’ve got a lot of new talent coming in as well.”

The captains both agree that the team is well-rounded, with each player bringing their own strengths contributing to overall team success. “Younger players have definitely developed. Each player’s games, including the returning players, have gotten better. And we have some really good new players coming in,” said Jake.

Jericho Boys Varsity Golf is set to have an exciting season. Between new talent and off-season preparation, the Jayhawks are ready to dominate the greens. Catch them on the links this spring as they look toward clinching a post-season run.
