Knicks Eastern Conference Finals Recap

BY JORDAN GREENSTEIN ’28

New York is all orange and blue skies as the Knicks have won the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavs.

May 19’s Game 1 was historic, with the Knicks coming back from being down 22 points with 7:48 left in the fourth quarter. Most of the comeback was due to point guard Jalen “JB” Brunson’s heroics and tough, scrappy defense. The Knicks ended the quarter on a 18-1 run and forced an OT. In overtime, the Knicks ended the game on a 14-3 run, with a score of 115-104.

May 21’s Game 2 was a defensive lockdown that the Knicks won with a score of 109-93. Throughout Game 2, Brunson was dishing the rock with 14 assists. In May 23’s Game 3, Brunson and Knicks small forward Ogugua “OG” Anunoby fired on all cylinders, totaling 51 points in a 13-point win over the Cavaliers to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the playoffs. This game led the Knicks to clinch a 10-game winning streak in the playoffs.

In May 25’s final game, the Knicks beat the Cavs 130-93, sending New York to the NBA Finals against either Wembanyama and his Spurs or Gilgeous-Alexander and his Thunder.

This was a historic playoff run for the New York Knicks so far because not only did they make the finals, but they also they swept back-to-back teams. The Knicks are 12-2 in this 14-game span, and New Yorkers are hype for an unforgettable Finals.
