Welcome back to my Funny Foodies reviews! I hope everyone had an amazing summer because I know I sure did!
On Monday, I got Toku takeout. Toku is billed as a restaurant that serves “upscale modern Asian fare,” and is located in Manhasset in the Americana shopping center. I ordered one tuna pizza, two spicy tuna cucumber rolls, and one salmon roll. I also ordered soy sauce and so much spicy mayo I could drown in it!
First off, the tuna pizza was so good: raw tuna with some lettuce, amazing truffle oil, and onions on the bottom. The tuna pizza, in my opinion, is dangerously good; the truffle oil makes it taste so much better, and dipping it in the spicy mayo makes it delectable because Toku’s spicy mayo is spicy and sweet, unlike other places! Overall, Toku’s tuna pizza deserves an 8.6 out of 10; really good. The reason why I give this one an 8.6 and not in the 9’s is that I think they needed a little more of that truffle oil because it was so good, and I think a little more of it would make it to a whole other level.
Next, the salmon roll was a very solid roll. The salmon was very fresh, which is a very important thing because if it’s not fresh, then it can cause food poisoning. In most cases, salmon just tastes terrible, but luckily, Toku’s salmon roll is very fresh. Overall, I would give the salmon roll a 7.9 out of 10- a very good roll. I give this one a 7.9 because it was very solid but nothing like insane, where it goes to the 8’s or 9’s.
Next, the spicy tuna rolls with cucumber was the best roll, especially compared to the salmon roll. The spicy tuna was incredibly fresh and had a good spicy kick to the fish, which I love. Furthermore, the cucumber was a nice, refreshing addition to the roll. Overall, I am going to give the spicy tuna cucumber roll an 8.2 out of 10: an amazing roll. This one was an 8.2 because it was not as good as the tuna pizza, but definitely better than the salmon roll due to its seasoning and flavor.
Overall, I am giving Toku an 8.4 out of 10; definitely a must-go-to, and I would definitely drive 20-30 minutes to come here for that. A huge recommendation for all people living on Long Island. Is Toku the absolute best restaurant I have ever had? Probably not, but definitely amazing, and it will make you feel satisfied.
