On Friday, Sept. 25, the Jericho Jayhawks will take on the Hicksville Comets in Jericho’s annual Homecoming football game. Last week, the Jayhawks lost against Roosevelt 29-6 in their first game of the year—they had difficulty getting into an offensive groove and did not score a point until late in the fourth quarter.
The Jericho Jayhawks hope to make a big rebound as they play in front of their home crowd on Friday at 6 p.m. in a battle of two winless teams hungry for a victory.
For the seniors, it will be an especially emotional game. The game happens to fall on senior night, which is a night honoring the senior players on the team. “A win on senior night would mean everything to us—we’ve put in so much work together. And for the seniors, it’s our last time playing on our home field for Homecoming. We want to go out the right way and make it a night we’ll always remember,” said co-captain Brody Morgan ’27.
With the homecoming crowd behind the hometown them, Jericho will look to send the seniors out strong, and a win on homecoming would make it three straight homecoming victories for the Jayhawks.
Prediction: Jericho wins 20-10
