Jericho High School students reveled in school spirit in the Sam Springer gym on Friday, Sept. 25, shaking the gym with cheers as they celebrated the annual Homecoming Pep Rally.
But what led up to such a spirited pep rally? Jericho’s 2026 Homecoming Spirit Week. This year’s spirit week marked four days when students and faculty, alike, came together to demonstrate school spirit while also gaining energy for Friday’s Homecoming Pep Rally.
To kick off spirit week, the Jericho community sleepwalked into school in pajamas on “Tired Tuesday”, wrote some “totally true facts” on white shirts on “White Lie Wednesday”, and time-traveled back to 2016 on “Throwback Thursday”. Concluding the week on Friday, Jayhawks showed up in a Sea of Blue and Gold, with athletes proudly displaying their jerseys while the rest of the student body cheered them on.
Students and faculty all enjoy Spirit Week as a time to present group camaraderie. Business teacher Mr. Michael Goldin said, “Spirit week is a fabulous way for Jericho to show school spirit.”
This year’s spirit week had a great deal of participation, prompting community-building and unity that will surely last beyond Homecoming and Pep Rally.
