Marcus’s Postgame Pulse: Jericho Dominates Roslyn 30-8 to Kick Off Another Season 1-0

BY MARCUS KRANZ ’27

On Friday, September 12, in what was a feisty and, at times, chippy game, Jericho prevailed, winning 30-8 against archrival Roslyn. Jericho took the lead in the second quarter with a 15-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Brody Morgan ’27. Jericho then proceeded to take a 16-0 lead going into halftime, which included a safety by defensive end Alexander “Alex” Mizrahi ’27.

In the second half, Jericho extended its lead, courtesy of a 10-yard touchdown run from running back J.P. Wang ’26. On the defensive side of the ball, strong safety Jonathan Fortunoff ’26 capped off the game with a 21-yard pick-six. Additionally, quarterback/kicker Max Spector ’26 threw for 113 yards and a touchdown, also accounting for 1 rushing touchdown. Spector converted all his kicking attempts going 4/4 on extra points.  Running back Jake Morgan ’27 led the way with 58 yards rushing, while Brody Morgan ’27 added 57 rushing yards to go with his 65 receiving yards and a touchdown.

After the game, Brody Morgan reflected on both his performance and that of the team saying, “I couldn’t have done this without my brothers, especially my quarterback. We’ve been waiting for this win since training camp, and it feels great to finally see the hard work pay off. As for my performance, I just treated it like another day. I told my coaches that if they gave me an opportunity, I would deliver, and that’s exactly what I tried to do. At the end of the day, it’s only one win. We’re going to enjoy it tonight, but then it’s right back to work and on to the next.”

The Jayhawks look to continue their winning ways on Friday, September 19, as they take on the Valley Stream Central Eagles at 6 p.m. under the lights in the annual homecoming game, with The JerEcho’s pregame coverage starting at 5:30.
