Jericho Eyes 3-0 Start in Showdown Against MacArthur

BY MARCUS KRANZ ’27

The Jayhawks look to continue their winning ways and maintain their historic season start this upcoming Saturday, September 27, as they travel to Levittown to take on the MacArthur Generals. Jericho is coming off an emphatic 21–20 victory over Valley Stream Central High School, while MacArthur is coming off a heartbreaking 24–21 loss to Mepham High School. The Jayhawks will look to spoil MacArthur’s homecoming, clinching a statement win.

Jericho hopes to build off the rushing attack of Jake Morgan ’27 and J.P. Wang ’26. The duo accounted for 185 rushing yards and three touchdowns, with Wang scoring two touchdowns in last week’s win. Wang emphasized the significance of the Jayhawks’ consistency, saying, “We have the momentum and they don’t, we just got to keep running with it. “

Meanwhile, on the defensive end, Alexander “Alex” Mizrahi ’27, will look to continue his monster season after recording a safety, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery so far this season. The defense will need to create turnovers and make key plays. Mizrahi said the key for to slowing down MacArthur’s offense is “setting the tone early, flying off the line and playing with purpose and aggression for four straight quarters.”

Prediction: Jericho wins 35–28. The offense continues to roll, fueled by strong rushing from Jake Morgan ’27 and J.P. Wang ’26, and big plays from quarterback Max Spector  ’26 and wide receiver Brody Morgan ’27. The defense, led by strong safety Jonathan Fortunoff  ’26 and defensive end Alexander “Alex” Mizrahi ’27 will help contain MacArthur’s offense,  helping Jericho maintain momentum and their undefeated season.
