In early September 2025, Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka won the Open Single titles in Flushing Meadows, New York, leading to both players winning their second U.S. Open title.
Alcaraz faced competition in his matches against Novak Djokovic in the semifinals and Jannik Sinner in the final round. Sinner is the world’s number one tennis player and has won multiple Grand Slam titles. Once Alcaraz won his match against Sinner, this came to be his sixth career Grand Slam title.
Upon his win, Alcaraz credited his family. He said, “every achievement that I am having is because of you.”
Sabalenka faced competition in her matches against Coco Gauff in the semifinals and Amanda Anisimova in the final round.
Sabalenka’s final match against Anisimova was a nail-biter, ultimately winning Sabalenka her second consecutive title and fourth Grand Slam. The match had powerful and striking energy from both players. There were lots of nerve in the crowd and close scoring.
When she won, Sabalenka said, “I felt crazy and speechless” and thanked all the fans for all their support and loving atmosphere.
The U.S Open is always fun and full of emotions. The stadium is always filled with people giving off intense pressure that the players feed off of. If given the chance, students should attend, as they will experience unmatched matches in a lively atmosphere with good food and spirit.
