The Sam Springer gym was radiating energy on Friday, September 19, as Jericho High School celebrated the end of Fall Spirit Week and the anticipation of Homecoming weekend with the annual High School Pep Rally.
Leading up to Pep Rally, school pride was at an all-time high as the hallways were filled with energy and creativity in interpreting each day’s theme. Students and faculty kicked off the week in their coziest pajamas on Monday, brought sunshine to JHS on Tropical Tuesday, showed off their Western gear on Wild West Wednesday, and enjoyed a blast from the past on Thursday with neon colors and low-rise Y2K attire. The week wrapped up with Sea Of Blue Friday, as the entire school came together in Jericho blue for the week’s culminating pep rally.
The 2025 Pep Rally began with an electrifying performance by the Jayettes dance team, who got the crowd pumped and energized. Cheers echoed across the gym as the Fall sports teams were introduced one by one, highlighting their energy, dedication, and school spirit. Then came the competitive events, kicking off with a game of musical chairs, where representatives from each sports team compete. The gym was filled with laughter as the players raced around the chairs, trying not to be eliminated. In the end, the football team took the victory in musical chairs. Next came the three-legged race: each team paired two members together and tied their adjacent legs with a band, the goal being to run together across the gym without falling. The crowd erupted with cheers as pairs struggled to coordinate their steps, stumbling, and laughing along the way. Once again, the football team crossed the finish line first, claiming victory and prompting a jubilant celebration amongst their teammates. The games continued, with everyone sharing laughs and cheers in school pride as each team gave their best effort.
Although the Football Team dominated the earlier games, in the final overall score, the boys’ volleyball team claimed the overall Pep Rally victory, sending their teammates into celebration and closing the day on a thrilling high note.
While there was competition amongst teams during the Pep Rally, it is clear that the Jayhawks united through shared spirit, bringing pride to the Nest as the school community entered into a victorious Homecoming weekend.
