Marcus’s Postgame Pulse: Jayhawks Soar Past Bulldogs in Commanding 35-7 Victory
BY MARCUS KRANZ ’27
The Jayhawks returned to their winning ways with complete dominance from all three phases of football on Friday night, as they defeated the Roslyn Bulldogs 35–7. After two straight losses, the Jayhawks came out with energy. Captain Josh Mass ’26 said, “After two tough losses, we could’ve folded, but we didn’t. We locked in, brought the energy, and took control from the first snap. That’s how you respond, and that shows what this team is about and the culture we built. But the job’s not done. We turn the page, refocus, and bring that same energy into Valley Stream Central.” Mass also reiterated the importance of a “one game at a time mentality” to finish the season strong.
Friday’s scoring opened quickly as running back Jake Morgan ’27 scored on a 28-yard touchdown run. The Jayhawks then proceeded to take a 15–0 lead. Jake Morgan finished the day with 16 carries for 120 yards and three catches for 23 yards. Morgan said, “Going into the game, we knew we had to take their confidence away on the first snap. Forcing a three-and-out and scoring on our first drive set the tone for the whole game. Most importantly, we had fun playing, which let us stretch the lead and finish with a win.” Later in the first half quarterback Max Spector ’26 fired a 43-yard strike to Michael Moskalev ’26 to put the Jayhawks up by two scores. The Jayhawks took a 15–7 lead at the half. Moskalev then had a second score of the night on a 22-yard touchdown run, extending the Jayhawks’ lead.
J.P. Wang ’26 capped off another great performance against Roslyn with a 44-yard pick-six and rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown. The Jayhawks will hope to build on this crucial win as they travel to take on the Valley Stream Central Eagles on Saturday, October 18 at 2:30 p.m.
