The Jericho Boys Varsity Soccer Team was excited to kick off this season with new coaches and players who will make their mark on the field.
This year, Head Coach Mark Giardino and Assistant Coach Ryan Bauer are replacing Coach Dani Braga in hopes of making the playoffs. Coach Bauer is building a winning culture for his team. He said, “I expect that we compete hard every game, continue to improve week by week, and build a culture of accountability and teamwork.” Coach Bauer emphasized the importance of commitment and community in his team, claiming that it is ultimately the key to their success.
Team co-captain Aydin Cosgrove ’26 agreed with his coach’s sentiment. Cosgrove said, “All of us are friends with each other off the field, and I think that really helps with creating that familiarity that’s needed on the field. I think I speak for everyone on our team in saying that we’re all like a big family, Coach Giardino and Coach Bauer included.”
Although the team’s record this season is now 4-7-2, they are building the foundation for future seasons of success. Coach Bauer said that this season poses an exciting opportunity for this team to grow in new ways. He said, “We have a strong group of players with great potential, and I’m looking forward to helping them develop both on and off the field.”
It’s undeniable that no matter what record this season holds, the Boys Varsity Soccer Team has a bright future ahead under the strong leadership of its new coaches.
