Jayhawks Eye Win in Celebration of Seniors
BY MARCUS KRANZ ’27
On Friday, October 31, the Jayhawks look to finish the regular season at .500, a 4-4 record that would be historic for the rebuilding program in its third season back as its own team. As it is Jericho’s Senior Night, the Jayhawks should be fired up to play, with emotions running high for a win.
A Senior Night victory is a career goal of great meaning for Jayhawk seniors. Captain Michael Moskalev ’26 said, “Honestly, I feel if we can get one more win and end our high school careers on a high note, it would mean the most to us as seniors and our coaches, knowing that we fought until the last whistle.”
The Jayhawks come in with a 3-4 record, having lost last week as their lead slipped away in the second half. Glen Cove, meanwhile, is in a down year, managing only one win and entering with a 1-6 record.
Keys to the Game: The Jayhawks need to play all four quarters well and dominate both sides of the ball at the line of scrimmage. They also need to establish a balanced offensive attack. Glen Cove should focus on establishing a run game with Gamar Letellier and Matthew Jackson, and should aim for a fast start.
Prediction: Jericho wins 35-14 behind an offensive explosion and key defensive plays. In what could be the last home game of the season, I think these seniors are expected to make an impact. Wide receiver Hudson Gingold ’26 will have a 30+ yard catch. Jonathan Fortunoff ’26 will have an interception, while Michael Moskalev ’26 and Josh Mass ’26 deliver strong defensive performances. I project that Max Spector ’26 will score a rushing touchdown. J.P. Wang ’26 is expected to have a standout game running the ball. The Jayhawks aim to send the seniors out with a win and momentum heading into the bowl game next week.
