Against the Odds, Jericho Pins Powerhouse MacArthur on the Mats

On Wednesday, December 17, Jericho’s Varsity Boys Wrestling Team had a stunning win against the powerhouse that is MacArthur High School.
Coach Brodsky expressed how momentous this win was for Jericho’s wrestling program. “This was one of our biggest wins ever,” said Coach Brodsky, attributing the win to the team’s exceptional dynamics this season. “This is one of our more balanced teams in a long time,” said Coach Brodsky, “It is a really good core of guys and a bunch of guys put in a lot of time in the off-season which helps.”
While the team’s commitment led to their achievement, Coach Brodsky also emphasized that the combination of veterans and younger members led to success as well. “We have a lot of veteran starters, and it came down to us getting wins from those guys,” he said, “and the younger guys stepped up big time.”
But the team couldn’t be successful without its coaching staff. According to Coach Brodsky, the win can also be attributed to the coaching staff’s solid planning and their ability to get the team to buy into their competition.
Captain Brad Rosembarg ’26 said, “I am very proud of this team because this is the first time we have beat MacArthur and of course without Coach Brodsky and Coach D, this win would not have been possible.”
Jericho continues to apply pressure on the mats as they enter into their senior night on Friday, January 9, against Baldwin. With strong leadership at the coaching-level, and a determined group of teammates, the Jayhawks look forward to a strong finish in the second half of the season.
