Disney Channel Magic Takes Over The Jericho Runway
BY SAHANA SUNDAR ’27
On December 6, Jericho High School students channeled their inner Disney kids while they strutted their stuff for a good cause at the annual student-run Fashion Show. This year’s Fashion Show theme surrounded reminiscing on Disney Channel classics, and there was magic in the air as student models walked the catwalk in themed outfits from “Hannah Montana,””Camp Rock,” and more. This year, the $3,000 in proceeds went to the Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
The Jericho community showed up for the event, packing the High School Auditorium to show their love. Club Advisor Ms. Jill Kahan said, “I love the fashion show. Raising money for a good cause, interacting with the students in a different way, watching the directors become leaders, the motivation, and determination. The kids’ show is so special.”
The show was more than just a school event; it was a memorable and meaningful night that brought the Jericho community together. Jasmine D. ’27 said, “The fashion show was a great success and was not only super fun to be with all my friends in the walk, but it also felt good we were raising money for a great cause. It was super fun to be with everyone, and I encourage every junior and senior to participate.”
Behind every success, there is a ton of hard work that is often invisible to others. Behind-the-scenes volunteers and on-stage performers worked on this event for months in advance. However, unlike senioritis, runway-itis was certainly not visible. Although the models had an all-day dress rehearsal practice leading up to the show, they did not reveal any stress. Instead, their high energy excited the crowd, and their hard work was well-appreciated, as evident from the loud cheers throughout the night.
Incoming juniors and seniors are already looking forward to making next year’s show even bigger, brighter, and better. Emily L. ’28 said, “I do plan on participating [in the fashion show] next year since it has always seemed fun, and I’m really excited to have an outside-of-school activity with my friends.”
The Jericho Fashion Show continues to be more than just a night on the runway. This show brings the community together to celebrate for a good cause. The legacy and magic of this year’s show will live long after the stage lights dim because one thing is clear: the future of the Jericho Fashion Show is brighter than ever!
