Courtside Chronicles: Girls Varsity Basketball Week 3 Recap
BY JORDAN GREENSTEIN ’28
Welcome back to Jordan’s Courtside Chronicles! I’m going to warm us up with a recap on the Jericho girls varsity basketball team’s progress after a long winter break! In this edition of Courtside Chronicles, I’ll break down the team’s pre-break December games. My next edition will dive into their more recent matchups.
On December 16, the Jericho Jayhawks defeated the Long Beach Bulldogs, improving their record to 6-1 by a score of 54-40. Jericho held Long Beach’s leading scorer, Brooke Buehre, to only 12 points, while Jericho’s standout senior Sadie Krangle ’26 scored 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Adding onto this amazing performance, Angela Tan ’29 scored 10 points and co-captain Sophie Green ’26 scored 7 points with a great supporting flock.
On December 19, Jericho faced Great Neck South, who entered the game with a 0-5 overall record. Jericho won, and went upward to 7-1, with a score of 68-46. Great Neck South’s Raphaella Covitt scored 17 points, while Jericho’s own Sonia Ngai ’28 scored 24 points and snagged 8 rebounds.
On December 22, the Jayhawks destroyed Oceanside 52-17, and rose to 8-1, holding Oceanside’s Ella Murray to only 6 points, while Jericho’s Angela Tan ’29 dropped 15 points and dished 6 assists.
As the Jayhawks continue to soar onwards and upwards into the New Year, I’ll be here to chronicle it all.
