The NFL and its fans are abuzz as a legendary coach is about to join the New York Giants’ organization. The New York Giants are in the process of finalizing a deal with Head Coach John Harbaugh for a massive 5-year, $100 million deal.
John Harbaugh is a celebrated coach in the NFL, as he coached the Baltimore Ravens for a whopping 18 seasons. Under Harbaugh’s leadership, the Ravens were 180-113 overall (13-11 playoffs) with one Super Bowl victory. Coach Harbaugh also holds the NFL record for most playoff wins on the road of all time.
Hiring Harbaugh is a significant turning point for the Giants organization because they now have a world-class coach. Many Giants fans have referred to Harbaugh as a “floor-raiser” who could make them elevate their status from this past season’s meager 4-win team.
Giants fan Dean F. ’27 believes that Harbaugh’s hire is critical for revamping the Giants’ gameplay and reputation in future seasons. “We now have a proven head coach who has made a Super Bowl and has consistently been in the playoffs year after year,” said Dean.
Giants fans also hope Harbaugh will bring stability to the team, which has had 6 head coaches since former Head Coach Tom Coughlin’s retirement in 2015. Under Head Coach Coughlin, the team won 2 Super Bowls and was known as a team to beat. Fans like Dean hope that Harbaugh’s hire will return the team to a competitive status.
Harbaugh’s hire is creating a lot of excitement for loyal New York Giants fans who long to see their team do well. Many are hopeful for a new Giants Golden Age under Harbaugh’s leadership.
